Sources: Nats interested in Randolph – nationals.com
Willie Randolph as the Nats bench coach? It would be a bit of a role reversal since Manny Acta, the incumbent Nationals manager, worked under Randolph with the Mets in 2006. Should this hiring happen, GM Jim Bowden would also have a potential successor to Acta. An article in the NY Post Newsday seems to be lobbying for Acta to be the Mets skipper in 2010. Of course, an article suggesting that a member of a Washington sports team wants to go elsewhere has never appeared before in the NY Post New York newspaper, so we must up our alert level to High if not Severe.
At the very least, I would find it very weird seeing Randolph in curly W and pinstripe-free uniform. Even seeing him in the Mets colors was odd, he’ll always be a Yankee to me (even though he played for about four other teams).
