For Nats, It’s the Power Of One – The Post
Around the clubhouse, the game was dubbed a team win. Starting pitcher Shairon Martis provided the Nationals their first quality start of the season, ending a drought that explained why the Nationals are last in the standings. They received a hit from eight of the nine spots in the order, and their four home runs were a testimony to the team’s bolstered offense. And the bullpen did not allow a late-inning rally from the Phillies, instead keeping them hitless in the game’s final three innings.
Nats end their skid with rout at home – The Wash. Times
Their revamped lineup, altered even more with Lastings Milledge at Class AAA Syracuse, handed Shairon Martis an early lead. The young right-hander subdued a fire-breathing lineup. The Nationals’ bullpen hummed through the last three innings, and the offense scored enough extra runs to turn the game into a snoozer.
It all added up to an 8-2 win against Philadelphia, ending a nightmarish seven-game losing streak to start the year with an emphatic victory against the defending World Series champions and sending Washington into a weekend series against the Marlins with a little juice.
At last the Nationals won a game. They led the whole time after Adam Dunn hit a three run homer in the first. Three other homers followed. Apparently, wearing their well-intended, but poorly executed patriotic uniforms was the trick.
I am now tied in the 2009 Cheesesteak/Half-Smoke Challenge too.

1B Nick Johnson batted second last night and had three hits. He is ambivalent about where he bats, he just wants to be in there somewhere.
Dunn adds right field to rotation – The Wash. Times
Adam Dunn will occasionally play right field in addition to his typical left field and occasional first base duties.
A beautiful weekend awaits with the first place Marlins coming to town.
