Flat Nats lose to 2 of 3 to Mets

Riggleman Upset by ‘Flat’ Effort As Nationals Lose for the 98th TimeThe Post
Same old story for Nats in lossThe Wash. Times
If there was one thing that Nationals fans could count on it was beating up on the Mets in September. The last couple of seasons, the Mets would be in first place and the Nats would win 5 of 6 from them in the final weeks of the season. However, this year the Mets are terrible, so the Washington’s “annual world series” was not there. The Nats responded with indifference and lost 2 of 3.

Interim manager Jim Riggleman might be losing the team. Given that there are about two weeks left of baseball, one can’t be surprised. Also, by playing rookie Ian Desmond in the outfield the other, for the first time in his professional career, Riggleman might be losing his mind.

Two of the last three teams to lose 100 games in consecutive seasons won pennants a few years later. The Detroit Tigers are specifically cited.

I could deal with that sort of progress.
