Nats Slip Against Padres, Fall for 6th Straight Time – The Post
Nats’ restless trip ends with another loss – The Wash. Times
Make it six loses in a row for the Washington Nationals. They were shutout 7-0 nothing yesterday afternoon in San Diego. The Padres got to starter John Lannan in the fifth inning, tagging him for five runs. Previously, he had been shutting them out, but having to get extra outs earlier in the game proved costly. Is Lannan gassed or is he regressing to the mean? His low strikeout totals suggest that it may be the latter, a very troubling development.
Padres starter Kevin Correia recorded 19 consecutive outs at one point, against perhaps the least impressive D.C. lineup this season, if not ever.
The Nats have today off after a 2-7 road trip that included two consecutive sweeps in St. Louis and San Diego. They have not won a game since Nyjer Morgan went on the DL.
The Nats were also officially eliminated from playoff contention.
