John Lannan pitched one of his better games against the Philadelphia Phillies, but for the Washington Nationals starter, 3 runs (2 earned) over 6 innings. It wasn’t enough though, because Roy Halladay held the Nats scoreless through 8. The Nats got it going in the 9th though, scoring two runs.

I might add, to the veterans Matt Stairs and Ivan Rodriguez, that it is probably easier to be successful when you lift the bat off your shoulder. You owe it to those who came before you, the ones who swung the bat, got on base, moved runners over, scored or were standing on base as the tying and winning runs when you were at bat.
