ALEXANDRIA, Va. — It seems fitting to have snow on the ground when pitchers & catchers report to spring training. The Washington Nationals get started on Wednesday while “back home” is snowed-in. There was also a D.C. area snow storm in 2014.
Wednesday, February 12, 7:30 a.m.
Another 3⁄4 fell since my first measurement. We’re up to 6 3⁄4 inches overall.
Tuesday, February 11, 9:30 p.m.

The first measurement – 6 inches of snow in my backyard. Pretty powdery too.
We’re approaching 15 inches for the season, the “average” accumulation.
Meanwhile at Nationals Park
pitchers and catchers report tomorrow

Don’t hate winter, use it
While it’s been suggested that “wind blasted frozen hellscape” is no way to live, I find lots of joys in winter activities. In particular, I enjoy skiing and broomball.

Oh, to be skiing in this snow! Six or more inches of freshies at Massanutten I’m hearing. It’s better than what I had there earlier this season or at Elk Mountain in Northeast Pennsylvania on Saturday.
Can’t get enough winter sports?
Come out and play broomball! It’s like hockey without skates, played on a full rink.
The next season starts February 27 and will run on Tuesday nights into April.
